A Royal Charter was granted in 1929, with the organisation’s aims and objectives including promoting trade, reducing waste and protecting the consumer through the use of licensed marks to identify conformity to standards. An Executive Agency of the Department for Transport that exists to improve vehicle safety and environmental protection by providing robust testing and certification to internationally recognised standards. The VCA oversees Type Approval and issues the Certificate of Conformity which demonstrates the quality, consistency and safety of Minibus world vehicles. Van World manufacture a variety of ‘type approved’ vehicles.
The Staffordshire Business & Environment Network (SBEN) helps raise environmental awareness through shared knowledge, seminars and training. It also provides practical advice on developing and implementing environmental policies as well as promoting examples of good practice.
